"Attack & Release" was my first intro to the Black Keys. All I know is that by the middle of "Strange Times" I was f*cking hooked and immediately proceeded to purchase the album in its entirety on iTunes. Carney and Auerbach's sound is raw and original and deeply soulful. And damn groovy as hell.

As soon as I finished Attack & Release I had an unquenchable thirst for all things Black Keys. In less than probably two days I had downloaded and listened to every album (except for El Camino, which had yet to be released). I can't find one "bad" song on any album, some undoubtedly better than others, but I am definitely partial to a few specific tracks on Attack & Release, namely I Got Mine, Strange Times, Psychotic Girl, and Things Ain't Like They Use to Be. Safe to say it is my favorite Key's album. Highly recommended.

Until I came across the Keys nearly 3 years ago, I had been waiting for an artist or band to shatter the ridiculous rock n roll motifs that have developed and become so prominent over the past decade or so. And they so effortlessly accomplished just that whilst breaking and setting new standards for themselves and other musicians. The duo has led our world into a new era of quality music based upon raw emotion and simple complexity. There is no denying Patrick and Dan's genuine talent or their sincere passion regarding the art of musical love making. Collectively they are a dynamic modern rock/blues powerhouse.

And that, my friends, is my two cents on the subject. Thanks, Attack & Release, you made me a better person... along with burritos and good beer.

I've heard some complaints about this album, but honestly I think the album is really marvelous. I was not hooked on first listening, but after listening to some of it's songs a couple more times I realise how awesome they were.
Hits :
Strange Times
Psychotic Girl
Lies
So He Won't Break
Oceans & Streams

Those that leave me a bit indifferent :
All You Ever Wanted
Things Ain't Like They Used to Be

The rest I consider good to pretty good.
