The thing is, in a few years, maybe more, most of us will barley remember bands like fun., Maroon 5, and even Mumford & Sons. That's just how pop music is. Bands go in style, bands go out of style. An artist replaces an artist, and soon another replaces that one. This is true for most music. And musicians.
But there are exceptions to the rule. Bands and people that go beyond, that change the way we listen to music. There are three kinds of "sounds" in the billboards as of this week. Techno, Folk, and The Black Keys.
I have always been a lover of rock music. All the way from The Beatles, to Led Zeppelin, to Elton John, to Nirvana, to Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach. In twenty-five years, my son is going to come up to me and ask "Dad, have you ever heard of the Black Keys?" And I'll say "Yes! They were the shit when I was a kid!"
From Lonely Boy to Mind Eraser, El Camino is a crown to a thrown the Black Keys have been constructing since The Big Come Up. With anthems like Little Black Submarines, frustrating romances in Run Right Back and Nova Baby, and of course the Grammy award-winning Lonely Boy, El Camino is magic album number 7. I, for one, COULD drown in gold. On the ceiling.
just like all previous albums this one great and im sure they will never sound like shit hope to hear many more albums from dan and pat have fun guys
Has everyone here just discovered these guys, ive been following these guys from the big come up and thickfreakness, and im not afraid to say that they have a timeless sound that can compete with any band for the last 50 years, but i prefer my keys a little less done.... sushi, i like them raw, cut away these back up vocals they dont need them, if its about money drop a commercial single... gold on the ceiling...lonely boy, but dont change it up on the loyal fans black submarines could be one of the best songs i've heard from these guys i love the way it explodes half way through. To say the albulm is bad...no way still better than 95% of the crap i hear on the radio, but to say its great... i dont know i have in rotation though so maybe it will grow on me, this is the first albulm by the black keys that i've had to say that about.
Bit late on it but this is simply an amazing album. Dead sold on the groovy/bluesy/drummy/rocky mix these guys do. My first with BK coming up in Dec and I can't wait!!
It's missing the soul some of their other albums had, Little Black Submarines shows they still have it but it's just not in the music
Really wish you were coming to Vegas!! You're the only music I want to catch when I get there at the end of July!! Love every last bit of you both.
Very good album. I just wish I would have found out about them sooner :/ But now that I know about these guys, I'm staying because they are freaking amazing :)
The Black Keys.......love your music. Keep N.O., La in mind for your tour dates.. Thanks nomixedmessages
This is love and joy and sex and soul and dancing and chilling. I challenge anyone to find a real fave track. It brings you to the place when you were an age where music was EVERYTHING and makes you realise that is still NOW. Take me to a desert island with just this and don't let it be over. Thank you guys. xx
Love this album. I can't take it out of my CD player. Gold on the cieling is my favorite but I love every song. Thanks for making my day in the car brighter.

It's sad to admit that I had never heard of 'The Black Keys' until the 'Brothers' album was released. Since then I have done extensive research into their catalog and am completely hooked on these guys. To be totally honest, Brothers was a good album, but pales in comparison to their previous works. 'El Camino' is a different sound altogether- catchy hooks & melodies that scream radio friendly, but these guys deserve 'round the clock airplay, so that's a good thing. Many have said that the group has "sold out" because their sound is less bluesy, but I disagree. The sound may be different, but Dan's song structure and writing have gotten better & better. I'd recommend everyone go back and purchase their older works to get an idea as to where these guys came from. Sonically, they are reminscent to Led Zeppelin for me which is why I think I love these guys so much and respect what they've done with their craft- true musicianship. 'El Camino' is different, but catchy as HELL and I can't stop playing it over & over again. SUPPORT REAL MUSIC! I wish they'd come to Tampa Bay Florida =(
reply to Ozzyves: You're off a decade. Their rock is like the 60's.
Careful- this borders on overproduction and commercialization. Too many sounds. Background vocalists? Really? Pretty soon you will have to rename yourselves the 'New Black Keys' and the gritty blues sound will be gone. Take a visit back to the place you came from. However, 'Lonely Boy' is catchy and the video is great.
This album is EpiC i mean i only found out about this band in 2010 but i think it awsome lovein the new album =D
Mine too! I can't get enough of this track.
Got this album as soon as it released for DL here on the site. I cannot stop listening to it. I've got it on my phone, my PC's and my tablet. I carry this sound everywhere I go. I longboard and there's nothing more exciting or chill to listen to while I'm bombing down a hill..or cruising around downtown streets. I can't think of a band I like to plug in and listen to everyday. This album just doesn't get played out to me. Ever. And that is well worth the price of DL plus a lot more.
